Teacher! Why? - Graduation

Imagine that you are 4 or 5 years old. Almost everyday your mom wakes little tiny you up, and every morning she dresses you up in a little tiny grey suit and puts you in a little yellow school bus that goes up and down, up and down all the way to a school where you spend the whole day learning some strange language your parents don't speak .... you do this for about a year and then all of a sudden the big people in your life force you to memorize some little dialogue about how much you love the whole thing, and coax you into doing a song and dance routine and wearing a ridiculous costume in front of 200 or so of your relatives and your parents’ closest friends.

Welcome to the life of a tiny wolf ….

Showtime!

... and because we were all getting bored I handed the photo duties over to the kids. I can't take much credit for these photos as all I did was hold the camera with one hand, while the wolves click,click,clicked....

Happy Birthday Claire!

Dear Claire,

You know how to shake it better than the rest of the cool kids...

....  and you're a pretty good listener too.

I missed your birthday party.
Twice.
Oups.

...sorry.

She had me wrapped around her little finger ...

Some nights you just can't help but fall in love with the world. I never stood a chance against Saturday night. She had me wrapped around her little finger before I even knew what had happened.

Her plan was beautiful in its simplicity; gather all my favourite people together in a booze soaked smoky little basement bar and have them unleash their creative talents while kind strangers danced and offered lovely compliments all night long.

.... Spookfish ....
...  I'm still trying to scrape myself off the sidewalk ...

Vince  provided the screen candy and some amazing prints, while Destiny did a fabulous job of ensuring we all spent the night on the right side of tipsy.

... and then there was Lhasa. They make the most wonderful sounds your ears will ever hear in Busan ...

!!! DANCE!!!

Oh Saturday night, you were perfect.

Ps. I sold some photos!!!!

if the men wore red pants and danced,

if the men wore red pants and danced,
if they sang and were naked and handsome,
if they amused women, and were amused by women,
if they carved the stools they sat on,
and embroidered their own emblems
this would be a lovely, lovely world to live in.

It began with Lawrence  ... and gets its sweet conclusion from the first Lady of the Hot Dog.

Even poorly folded creatures deserve love

"This is Philip. Do not throw him away. One day, he'll be eighteen, and will be able to serve cigarettes."

my big toe does not approve

How dare they make these in the wrong sizes!

The world can be a cruel, cruel place.

RAD CITY DANCE PARTY ART SHOW - Feb 20 - Basement

You should really come and dance to my friends' music and see my pictures ... no, really ...  this is like a drop-all-your-plans-and-bring-all-your-friends sort of thing.

a visible mass of droplets...likeable droplets

Teaching small children invariably causes you to be a weather expert of sorts - you find yourself devoting at least ten minutes of your morning discussing "what's the weather like today, like today, what's the weather like today, it is blah, blah, blah” ... and although it may seem a little strange to complain about the sun, if you live in Busan the weather always seems to be the same old same old - sunny and cool.
Until this week.
The past few days have looked like this ....

... I kind of like it.

take me out to the rock show - carsick cars

Busan is quite the lovely monster of the city. She's this big, beautiful metropolis that is surrounded by mountains and lives by the sea. She never seems to get quite as cold as the rest of Korea, she always has something delicious for you to eat, and she puts on one hell of a film festival in the fall.

.. but ...

One thing she doesn't do so well rock shows. I'm not saying there isn't good music in this town - we have some good bands, and the open mics are good fun in the summer when you need to sing your heart out with all your friends - but as far as good old sweaty, dirty rock show, we don't have them.

So the Chinese showed up and reminded us how it's done.

(ps. My disposable camera addiction might be back in full swing)

Peek-a-boo .. I see a boy peeing in the girl's bathroom!
