The great freckle debate

I was walking down the street the other day and I overheard two guys talking ....

Bro 1 : "She was hot man!"
Bro 2 : "Yeah, but I can't get past the freckles."

To him I say ....

If my coffee wasn't so delicious I would have shared it with your shirt.

Lint is a shell's best friend

MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON from Dean Fleischer-Camp on Vimeo.

Dear Mr. Duffield,

My last night in Busan ....

...Mr. Jeff Duffeild bought 2 disposable cameras.
1 for him.
1 for me.

Since that sad day I've carried this little thing around with me everywhere I go....
... to the airport when I left Korea...

.. and around Bruce County ...

... it even tagged along while the little tree became aquainted with Canada ...

.... and then made it over to Portland ...

... and it even made some new friends ...

... but I never forgot about those amazing kids back in Busan ...

 Those are mine.
Let's see yours Mr.Duffield.

Airlines Schmairlines

Is it too much to ask for a pretty boy that wears suspenders and who is willing to follow me on all my little adventures?
*Ahem*
Continental Airlines I’m looking at you for ruining this dream.
If you had your planes moving on time then my tree wouldn’t be stuck on the other side of this country in a New Jersey airport for 14 hours, no, he’d be here with me …. and he looks prettier than video boy when he wears his bowtie.

la visite

Toby, please come and visit.
Ok.
Lovely.

fingers crossed

I’ve been a bit distant lately.
I’m sorry.
Really, it’s me, it’s not you.
I’ve had my reasons, and hopefully you’ll understand.
See living in Portland all the pretty girls have film cameras and people look at you a bit funny when you run around with a digital camera snapping away at all the little things you do.
Would you believe that sometimes I’m shy?
Yes, Ruby can be a shy girl.
But …. I met some nice people in this town, and one of them happens to be my housemate John.
He was away for the first half of the month on tour in Europe with his very very talented band, Nurses

.... and now he's home.
He's letting me borrow something.

Isn't she pretty?
I'm going to get some roles developed today, and ... well ... I'm nervous.
If they work you can take a peak at my Portland world ... if not...
you can take it up with Pickle.

Pickle is TUFF.

and in the pink, pink box there was a ....

le box

I live with great people.

It's her birthday

Happy birthday to me.

I had a nice, quiet little birthday.
I slept in, went for a surprisingly long bike ride
followed by a well deserved strawberry charlotte,
and then home again to relax with Meatball.

oh, and there was this ...
someone got all their friends together and made me quite the birthday greeting.
It was a very good day.

Lady Snowblood - "Stylish Woman and Umbrella Over Rain of Blood"

I found her at Powell's yesterday.
She's quite the lady.
She gave Tarantino ideas ...

She's sometimes naughty ...

... but never nice.

She is Lady Snowblood, and she's very addictive.

Where is Ruby?

So where am I?
Here are a few hints;

We have loads of bridges

The best way to get around town is on a bike...

I am passionately in love with the food carts ..

After eating at Korean Twist I told Sol we may have to break up.
I think for the good of everyone Koreans should really start having babies with Mexicans and working together on food more often.

Even though I am a little allergic, I am now a cat lady.

Even when it rains, you NEVER use an umbrella

I have 3 great housemates.
One fixes bikes,
the next works in a record show, but he's in the process of opening his own food cart,
and the tall lady works in a doughnut shop famous for their voodoo doll shaped pastries which are filled with raspberry jam and come complete with your very own salted pretzel stick so you can poke holes into your arch nemesis.

We are "The City of Roses", and people are free to own lovely old cars around here because winter is just a rumour. These cars will never have to suffer through the cruel dumps of artic winter.

And so ....
Dear everyone,
Happy greetings from Portland.
xo

beautiful

That City on a Hill - Boston

There was one last place we had to,
so back to the bus station we went ...

Last stop, Boston.

A certain someone was picked out of the crowd ...

for this ...

It was tough work.
He deserved a  snack ...

.... and I had my lemonade in the park.

We spent the afternoon walking, and walking, and walking, until ...

... a very special someone could walk no more.

And so came our last day.
We decided to have a feast.
We went to Neptune Oyster.

"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans."
- Ernest Hemingway

It was decadent.
It was delicious.
We wanted more.

"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."

And just like that, our trip was over.
Sol packed his bag and left for Albany the next morning to learn great things,
and I flew across the country to ......
